Amy Coleman
CVP of Corporate Functions HR, Microsoft
Amy came to Microsoft in 1996 having completed her Master’s Degree in Human Resources and Development & Organizational Psychology. For the first 9 years of her HR career at Microsoft, she held various HR leadership roles in compensation, performance, and talent management. In 2005 she left Microsoft, worked in consulting and then followed the start-up movement to become the CHRO of Medio Systems, a local mobile search and advertising start up that was later acquired by Here (a subsidiary of Nokia).
Upon her return to Microsoft in 2009, Amy was an HR Director for Mergers & Acquisitions and helped lead over 60 company transactions including acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures and divestitures. Amy successfully served for two years in M&A before transitioning in 2011 to be the HR Director for the Developer Division in Cloud + Enterprise. In 2013 she moved to the Organizational HR Director role for Cloud + Enterprise HR. From there, Amy led HR for the Finance, IT and Operations space until becoming a General Manager in HR in 2016 for Consumer Channels, Mobile Devices, OEM, M&O, Developer Evangelism working with various leaders in the Consumer, Sales and Marketing space around the globe. After the company went through a significant restructure, Amy moved to Partner with Kurt DelBene and Kevin Scott, to lead HR for Core Services Engineering, Operations, Corp Strategy and the office of the CTO.
In 2018, Amy took on her current role leading the Corporate Functions HR team (HR For HR, CELA, Finance and Office of the CEO) as well as HR Strategy & Planning, Merger and Venture Success HR, and building and leading our new Employee Relations function. Corporate Functions HR operates in a complex, matrixed and global business environment. The HR Line portion of the organization supports almost 10,000 employees including 1,900 managers in 73 countries. The COE functions of Employee Relations and Venture Integration support all areas of Microsoft globally; over 175,00 employees including almost 26,000 managers.
