Chris Siemer is currently a partner at Sea Shell Partners LLC where he has worked since his retirement from The Chemours Company in April 2018.  Since 2018 he has also provided due diligence and acquisition support to a large number of public and private companies seeking to acquire assets in chemical market space.  During this time, he has also supported the McKinsey company as a Senior Advisor working with over 50 multinational companies to provide leadership coaching and support for organizational transformation.  In addition, Chris provides mentoring and strategic support to biosynthetic startups.

Chris began his career at the Stauffer Chemical Company in 1980 as a production engineer and quickly progressed to the role of design engineer in Stauffer’s technology licensing group working with global clients seeking process technology for new asset investments.  After Stauffer’s acquisition by Imperial Chemical Industries plc (ICI), Chris shifted to specialty chemical manufacturing followed by roles in marketing and business management.  In 1998 Chris moved to Belgium to transform a group of underperforming European specialty chemical business units.  Chris progressed through larger commercial roles, typically focused on performance transformation, within ICI’s Uniqema division which produced commodity and specialty chemicals from both synthetic and natural raw materials.  While leading the Asia Pacific region, based in Kuala Lumpur, Chris supported the successful sale and integration of Uniqema into Croda plc.

In 2007 Chris and his family returned to the US where he started Sea Shell Consulting with a focus on trans pacific acquisition and integration projects.  In 2010 joined duPont to transform DuPont’s technology licensing business.  Chris initiated and completed a $485M acquisition which provided the critical mass for a structural transformation of the rest of the business.  In 2014 Chris was appointed President of DuPont’s Chemical Solutions division which spun, along with two other divisions, as The Chemours Company on the NYSE in July of 2015.  In addition to his divisional president role, Chris was appointed Chief Transformation Officer for the company as well leader of the IT and Procurement functions.  As the Chemical Solutions divisional president, he restructured the division yielding over $600M of cash proceeds from three divestments and took the P&L from loss making to profit.

In his role as the Chemours Chief Transformation Officer Chris directly ran the process that aligned the entire Chemours organization to identify and deliver thousands of individual organizational and performance projects.  Cash flow and EBITDA for the company increased by over 100% and in April 2018 Chris retired from Chemours to re-establish Sea Shell Consulting which evolved into Sea Shell Partners in 2022.

Born in New London Connecticut, Chris received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Connecticut.  His passions are family, cooking, guitar and trail running.
