Tom Meredith

Partner in Brightstar Capital Partners, Co-founder/Chair InstaBuilt NA, and CEO OF MFI Capital

Tom Meredith is a Partner in Brightstar Capital Partners, a middle market private equity firm based in New York. He is also co-founder and Chair of InstaBuilt NA, building sustainable communities worldwide. Tom serves as CEO of MFI Capital, the Meredith family’s private investment arm. Tom’s career spans over 40 years and includes extensive experience in corporate finance, manufacturing, finance operations, and global financial markets.

Tom served as Dell’s CFO, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategy, Co-founder of Dell Financial Services and Managing Director of Dell Ventures. Prior to joining Dell, he held executive roles at Sun Microsystems and Amdahl Capital. He also served as CFO of Motorola.

Tom currently serves on the board of directors of Cycorp, Inc., Global Resale, LLC, Key, Inc., Likewize Corp., Molecula, Inc., MVP Index, Inc., TensorX, Inc., Verb, Inc. and William Murray Golf, Inc.

Tom is a co-founder and emeritus board member of the Waterloo Greenway Conservancy. He also serves on the Advisory Boards of the LBJ School of Public Affairs and the Center for the Study of Race and Democracy at the University of Texas. From 2009-2018 Tom served on the worldwide board of The Nature Conservancy. He is an Emeritus Trustee of the University of Virginia College Foundation Board. 

Tom and his wife Lynn founded the MFI Foundation and have been deeply involved with numerous organizations including the Austin Children’s Museum, The EastWest Institute, Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center, KLRU, and Waterloo Greenway. Together they have received many accolades and awards including being named 2018 Harvey Penick Award Winners for Excellence in the Game of Life; 2012 Chamber of Commerce Austinites of the Year; 2010 Austin Community Foundation Barbara Jordan Award for Outstanding Volunteer Contribution & Philanthropy for donors who have shown philanthropic leadership in Central Texas; the Torch of Liberty Award given by the ADL in 2006; Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year given by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2004; and an Honorary Alumnus Award given by Leadership Austin in 2003.

Tom received his B.A. in political science from St. Francis University, a J.D. from Duquesne University and an LL.M. from Georgetown University School of Law.
